Salem had the Cherry Blossom Festival Day at the Oregon State Capitol on March 16, 2019. Despite there not being cherry blossoms, people gathered to celebrate Japanese culture with musical performances, merchandise and food.

On February 5, 2019, Oregon has reached below 30 degrees Celcius. Prompting school officials at the Salem-Keizer School District to cancel school for the day. Many Salemites still had to work. but with severe weather conditions.
